Our History
Better Life for Women Association is an NGO founded in the year 1998 in Obuasi, Ghana to champion the course of vulnerable women in the communities, educating them on violence against women, fundamental human right, empowerment and capacity building to become self reliant.
By interacting with some of these women, the association discovered that, majority of them had children with intellectual disabilities. Hence, in the year 2010, the Association was diverted to members with children who had intellectual disabilities.
It was then financed by AngloGold Ashanti (A.G.A) Mining and Building Construction in Obuasi. Since that time till date, the Association's priority has been on mothers with children of intellectual disabilities.
To champion the cause of vulnerable mothers/parents with children of intellectual disabilities in order to minimize its impact on such mothers and to become self-reliant and also to train.
To organize mothers and parents with special needs children in the community.
To seek the welfare of vulnerable and marginalized mothers/parents of children with intellectual disability in the society and to equip and assist them to take charge on their livelihood and sustain it.
To ensure sensitization policies are engaged to influence and promote disability rights of special needs children
